Challenge Complete
The Greater Manchester Workplace Cycle Challenge has now ended.
The GM Cycle Challenge ran from 7 June to 27 June 2010. 1,236 people from 90 organisations took part, logging an incredible 79,003 miles via 8,208 trips. The Challenge inspired 252 new cyclists to take to their bikes. 39% of registrants were non-cyclists (cycling less than once a month) and 23% were occasional cyclists (cycling 1-4 times a month).
Three months after the 2010 Challenge:
- 26% of non-cyclists reported cycling at least once a week
- 34% of occasional cyclists reported cycling at least two days a week
- 4% of participants who reported travelling to work by car at baseline had switched to cycling to work as their main mode of transport

Happy cycling!
“Since a colleague urged me on to do some cycling I have succeeded in getting friends to join me and in turn they have encouraged their friends to get on their bikes. It just keeps on going.” – Non-Cyclist
“I've enjoyed taking part in the cycle challenge. It's added an extra interest and promoted friendly competition amongst colleagues.” - Occasional Cyclist
“There is nothing negative to be said - you can’t argue with any scheme which encourages people to get fitter and have fun in the process.” – Occasional Cyclist
